ORA-01187: cannot read from file because it failed verification tests, ORA-01110: data file 2514: ‘/u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_07.dbf’

The errors (ORA-01187, ORA-01110) occurred while registering Golden Gate processes with the Database. Below is the error observed in GG Logfile,

Error in GG Logfile:

2016-10-14 08:35:14  ERROR   OGG-00664  Oracle GoldenGate Capture for Oracle, Capture1.prm:  OCI Error creating temporary LOB to retrieve default LOB chunk size (status= 1187-ORA-01187: cannot read from file  because it failed verification tests

ORA-01110: data file 2514:  ‘/u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_07.dbf’).

So, Connected to the Database with “/as sysdba” and executed the below command to check the status of file,

Analysis on fixing the issue:

Error on DB:

SQL> select file_name from dba_temp_files;

ERROR:

ORA-01187: cannot read from file  because it failed verification tests

ORA-01110: data file 2514: ‘/u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_07.dbf’

File exists at OS level

SQL> !ls -l  /u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_07.dbf

-rw-rw—-    1 oracle oinstall  838868992 Oct  9 06:47 /u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_07.dbf

Steps Followed to fix:

  1.      Dropped the Tempfile from DB

SQL> alter database tempfile ‘/u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_07.dbf’ drop;

  1. Added back the file and now it looks good.

SQL> alter tablespace temp1 add tempfile ‘/u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_07.dbf’ size 10G reuse;

Tablespace altered.

SQL> select file_name from dba_temp_files;

FILE_NAME

——————————————————————————–

/u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_07.dbf

/u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_08.dbf

/u01/oracle/oratemp/fs01/temp1_09.dbf
